Blocks

Parallel pads are rectangular blocks of metal made of tool steel, stainless steel or cast iron, having 2, 4 or 6 ground or lapped surfaces. They are used when machining with a milling machine, drill or any other machining operation that requires holding the workpiece in a vice or clamp - keeping the workpiece horizontal.

Parallel shims are machined in pairs so that the adjacent surfaces have the same dimensions. The shims are available in different sizes and thicknesses, allowing them to be stacked or used to hold a workpiece that does not have a flat profile.
